International Exhibition Night: Panel discussion reveals potential for 2010

With altogether 35 participants the 3day training course held by ITA International Trade Fair Academy from 21 - 23 October 2009 in New Delhi again showed a high acceptance by the Indian exhibition industry.

The students passed a written examination and got the certification for the successful completion of the academy course “International Trade Fair Management (ITM)”, endorsed by the IUBH University of Applied Sciences Bad Honnef - Bonn, Germany.

The International Exhibition Night on 23 October 2009 gathered over 70 high-ranking Indian exhibition professionals. One of the major topics during the panel discussion was the necessity of a synergetic lobbying approach by the Indian exhibition and convention industry, stipulated as well by Shyam Nagpal, Honorary Secretary of the Indian Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB) as by Ravinder Sethi, Vice President of the Indian Exhibition Industry Association (IEIA).

The common aim is to sensitise the government for the high economic impact of both industries and the importance to further develop the exhibition and convention infrastructure in India.

The government’s announcement to open up markets, rise infrastructure as well as education spending and further enhance foreign direct investments provides a good basis for the future growth of the exhibition and convention industry in India. The GDP for the next fiscal year 2010 / 2011 is expected to grow by around 7 %. In the medium-term perspective a growth rate of 8 to 9 % per year is aimed at.
